Common failures: dead battery (the most common — try a new battery first), water damage, cracked case, worn buttons, failed circuit board, antenna damage, and dropped impact damage to the internals.
Most fobs can be repaired if the damage is mechanical (case, buttons, battery contacts) or a single component. If the main circuit board is damaged, a new fob is usually cheaper than component-level repair.
A new battery and case is £10-£20. A button or contact repair is £30-£60. A full circuit board repair is often comparable to a replacement, so we typically recommend replacement in that case.
Sometimes. If the fob is opened, dried, the battery is replaced, and the corrosion cleaned within 24-48 hours of exposure, recovery rates are reasonable. After a week, the board is usually too corroded to recover.
